Spiritual Physics 3 – Newton’s Second Law of Motion (F=ma) Part 2

Hebrews 12:1
Philippians 1:6

F: Force of changes/growth
M: weight (sins, anxiety, and the past)
A: acceleration/speed of growth

How we can increase the speed of our growth (Acceleration):
L: listen
We need to listen to God. When we read the Old Testament, God spoke to Israel so many times but God said to them “why don’t you listen?” Similarly, our parents told us to do many things and often we don’t listen to our parents, we don’t like being told what to do. So, to increase our growth, we need to listen to God.
R: response
we need to respond to God. In the New Testament, Jesus asked Israel “why don’t you respond?” Even though He gave His commands. Similarly, we heard what God spoke to/commanded us to do, but we often ignored and didn’t respond to him. So, to increase the speed of our growth, we need to respond to God
O: obey
We need to respond to God by obeying Him and do what God tell us to do.

How can you obey God? There are different types of obedience:

  • Immediate obedience:

    • In Matthew 28:17-20: “…go and make disciples and baptize them…” This command requires immediate obedience. These verses don’t say “can you go and make disciples?” So if we say ‘I will do it later’ then we are not listening and obeying God. When we hear this type of commands, we must do it now.

    • In 2 Corinthians 13: 11-12: one command that asks for immediate obedience is to “greet one another.”

  • Consistent/repeated obedience:

    • In Galatians 5:13: “…but through love serve one another…” This command requires a consistent obedience. God asks us to do it repeatedly and consistently.

Instead of telling God, “I will think about it and pray about what you told me” this may be an appropriate response, but it could be a wrong response if God asks us to do things that are obvious. That’s why the Bible said “the first shall be last and the last shall be first.” People who have been a Christian for a long time will become ignorant and stop their desire to learn more about God and growing, but the younger/newer Christians still have the burning desire to grow. We need to practice both types of obedience: immediate obedience and consistent obedience to experience growth in our spiritual life.

If we can’t lose the spiritual fat and we can do nothing about our speed, then the only way for us to experience growth is increasing the force. How can we increase the force?

Philippians 1:6: God still does something for us even though we can’t. God does not give up and constantly works in our life. That is our hope. He will never let us go though we let Him go many times.

How is God working/increasing the force in our life? By M, H, and S

M: miracles.
In the history of the Bible, God performed so many miracles to bring people to him. Miracles are something we can’t explain why we experience this. All answered prayer requests are miracles in our life to make us grow. If we haven’t experienced any miracles yet in your life, it is because you don’t need God’s miracle since you have already lost your weight and are already lighter.

H: hardships:
Through trials, discipline, and failure, God will enforce this power of change. In the Bible, many people didn’t listen to God and didn’t give up their weight, they experienced persecution and hardships so that they could surrender to God.

S: see:
Set our eyes on God and see how God is working in our life. Elijah is a prophet in the Old testament. There was a drought in his land for several years and he has been praying for God to bring the rain down. He asked his servant to go down the ocean and check for the signs of the rain. The servant went, checked, and reported there was no sign of rain. Instead of giving up, Elijah told his servant to check 7 more times and at the 7th time, his servant returned and reported a cloud which brought rain to the land. We need to set our eyes on God. Even though we can’t see the sign at the moment, we need to go back and check again and again.

To sum up, our spiritual weight must decrease and we need to increase the speed of our growth by responding to God immediately and consistently to experience growth. If there is nothing we think that we can do by ourselves, we need to set our eyes on God because he will constantly work in our lives.
